Solange has definitively swayed out of her sister’s shadow with her new album A Seat at the Table. Her new single Don’t Touch My Hair has all the right elements to be her biggest hit. The track begins with slow running vocals followed by the punchy R&B bass that rolls throughout. Sampha’s eerie Jamie XX vibes add to the lullaby theme the duo were going for. This, paired with dreamy yet personal lyrics such as “they don’t understand what it means to me, where we chose to go, where we’ve been to know” suggests the song’s deeper meanings; and making spines tingle. What’s guaranteed is I don’t think anyone will be messing with her hair any time soon.
