Perfect Circle, Not So Perfect Anymore

Earlier this month the band Perfect Circle came into the media after throwing over 60 fans out from a gig for using their mobile phones. The band does have a strict ‘No Photos or Videos” policy, but is this taking it too far?

As always on social media, this sparked up a debate. The reaction to this was split. Some people being all for it and others completely against.

A lot of people don’t understand why they had to take it as far as throwing out paying and dedicated fans. It seems this bands security were taking this rule to the extreme with some saying, that even if they just looked at their phone they were pushed out of the venue and not allowed to return. One fan said “security’s flashlights hunting for people taking pictures were more distracting than cell phones.” This lead to multiple complaints to the venue as well as to the band.

However, this isn’t the only band that have caused chaos on social media after removing fans from gigs. Slipknot have also had a few run ins with this issue. “So many people have their faces glued to their phones and they’re not paying attention…get off your phones and pay attention to what the hell you’re doing.”, says Corey Taylor.

There is always going to be a divide in opinions with this subject. But since we have the technology to do so, is it so bad if someone want to record the moment? Some people may take this too far and there should be rules but throwing fans out because they looked at their phone is completely unnecessary.

Ever been to a gig where all you’ve done is stare at the phone screen of the person in front of you? Not great is it, but to be honest I think we are all guilty of this at some point.
